Alberta’s students deserve to succeed.

Education Assistants make classrooms better!

Every child should be able to access the things they need to learn best. For many, that means the support of an Education Assistant.

From breaking down lessons to implementing behaviour plans, Education Assistants are a lifeline. They help make school feel safe, supportive, and possible—whether working with an individual student or an entire class.

Every day an Education Assistant may:

  • Assist with personal and physical care
  • Supervise recess, lunch, and field trips
  • Facilitate positive social interactions
  • Accommodate unique learning needs
  • Report on progress
  • And more!

Their role requires considerable training, skill, and sensitivity. Yet the average wage of an Education Assistant is only $34,500.00. That’s not enough to make ends meet! As a result, hundreds of positions go unfilled and thousands of students go without support. Something has to change.

Tell the Alberta government: Stop undermining student success, and start funding Education Support Workers.
